Re: Urban Operations Early Access Feedback

I stopped by to post about typos I saw, but I see here in forums quite a few were already commented/addressed.

Will the PDF available on drivethru rpg (for the pre-order folks like myself) be updated soon to reflect those typo corrections? I just looked and the drivethru site still shows last updated Oct 6 with the file itself named T2K_Urban_Operations_Book_220928.pdf (I assume the name would change with the new date of the corrections).

Thanks and regards
During these pre-orders, FL have a short period of time for feedback regarding typos and erratas before they sent it for printing. I don't know how short it is, but when they send the product to the printers, they will also update the pdfs.

As it is mentioned in the WHO section, is there a possibility of getting stats for Flamethrowers?

A minor point I know and I could homebrew some rules, but if it's mentioned as a common weapon among one of the factions in the book, it would make sense to include game mechanics for it.

As it is mentioned in the WHO section, is there a possibility of getting stats for Flamethrowers?

A minor point I know and I could homebrew some rules, but if it's mentioned as a common weapon among one of the factions in the book, it would make sense to include game mechanics for it.
I mean, the rules for fire in the normal rulebook is as follows:

"A fire is measured in its intensity, ranging from A to D (just
like a skill level), where A is the most intense. A typical
fire has intensity C. When exposed to fire, roll two base
dice of the type corresponding to the intensity. For every
rolled, you suffer 1 point of damage. Armor has no
effect against fire damage.
If you take damage, you catch fire and continue to
burn. Place a FIRE token on your character token on the
battle map. When burning, you suffer another attack
each round, at your turn. The intensity increases by one
each round, up to a maximum of A. As soon as a fire
attack inflicts no damage, the fire goes out by itself. You,
or a friend in the same hex, can put out the fire with a
successful MOBILITY roll (slow action). Using a blanket or
similar object gives a +2 modifier.
FIRE CRITS: Fire damage has a critical injury threshold of 2.
This means that if you suffer 2 points of damage or more
from fire in a single round, you are critically injured. Don’t
roll for this critical injury – instead, the effect is always
a –2 modifier to STAMINA and MOBILITY. The crit is lethal,
death saves must be made each stretch, and the healing
time is 2D6 days."

All you need to do for a flamethrower is decide range and ammo (fuel), I suppose.

I'd assume that the fire intensity of a flamethrower is A, not C, since it's a *very* intense fire that you're getting blasted in your face.

Typical Flamethrower (Based on M2-2 used during Vietnam): Rel: 5, RoF: 1 (but only for hitting additional targets, not additional damage), Damage: FIRE (A), Crit: 2*, Blast: -, Range: 1, Mag: 7, Armor: 0, Weight: 30

Are there any plans for digital versions of the maps without the grids on them so that GMs can use their own grids if they wish? (I use the optional rules for 2m squares rather than 10m hexes)

The background for Fr. O'Neill (p. 65) could use some simplification:
O’Neill is an American, but he is no priest. He adopted the identity of a dead chaplain because he’s a war criminal. His crimes were accidental but resulted in many deaths for which he was convicted. His crime was treason. After having been captured, he sold out his unit to save his own skin. However, during the chaos of the war he escaped and reinvented himself
I like the idea of an imposter priest, but this confusingly written. I see the following elements:
--This character was an American soldier.
--As an American soldier he accidentally killed a lot of people.
--He was convicted of war crimes for doing this.
Comment: I like this because he is in some way still innocent and was perhaps made to be a scapegoat. Maybe he was told to fire on vehicles that he was told by a superior were an enemy column but were actually refugees, then was chosen to take the fall.
--Then he was captured by the enemy.
--While captured by the enemy, he betrayed his own unit.
Comment: I like this because he feels like he was betrayed by his own side, so can rationalize his own treason.
--And then he escaped and adopted the persona of a fake priest.

The mention of "his crime was treason" halfway through is confusing since it's unclear whether that relates back to the accidental war crime of which he was convicted or his subsequent betrayal. It can't be the accidental war crime since treason is purposeful and not a war crime.

If you want to say all that, then perhaps say it like this:
O’Neill is an American soldier who adopted the identity of a dead chaplain to escape his past. He accidentally killed many civilians and was convicted of war crimes by his own army, but was subsequently captured by the Soviets and betrayed his own unit to save his own life. However, during the chaos of the war he escaped and reinvented himself.

Page 37 under The WHO Goals has:
"The European countryside is rife with tails of WHO scientists, wearing NC gear and carrying flamethrowers, razing entire towns where they believe an outbreak occurred."

tails should be tales

NC gear should be NBC gear

Page 17 under Close Quarters Maps has large halls and long hallways divided into several subsections, indicated on the maps by dotted lines. These indoors maps are roughly 1:125 scale.

I would have thought the church and night club (around 25 meters across the club) would at least have these dotted lines?

Thanks for the feedback here! Please note that we'll need to close the thread and go to print around Dec 1, so please post any further feedback you have before that date.

I didn't spot this typo on a quick scan through the thread (but I apologise if it is a duplicate):

Page 54, last sentence of 'Arrival' paragraph: "Tack-suited gangster types..."

should be

"Track-suited gangster types..."

A couple more that I've not managed to find in this thread:

Page 59, Bebop's entry: "Bebop is the local DJ who also runs Free Radio Europe"

It otherwise seems to consistently be named 'Radio Free Europe'.

Also in Bebop's entry: "He was doing alright"

should perhaps be

"He was doing all right" - though the contraction is increasingly common in 'informal' writing and might be appropriate to a section that also talks about his 'rep'.
