As a counterpoint, I mostly really like where the Evolved Edition has ended up. I think Stress and Panic work better separated (I can't imagine being so stressed IRL that a COMTECH failure would make me go into a frenzy, and I've worked online customer support), and I like Resolve letting some characters keep it together better than others.
I concur. The previous edition had very unreasonable responses for a skill roll, which was by far the most common reason for panic tests, and stress cascades that made it so the more players in your group, the more likely everyone was eventually going to have a pile of stress, and being by yourself in a horror situation shouldn’t be the best way to keep your cool. Splitting it into 2 tables is great, and keeping the results that cause more stress or panic rolls for yourself and others to a minimum is the right choice as well. And because of that, having the keep it cool result harder to obtain is also correct. I am very happy with the beta 2 version of the rules and am looking forward to the beta 2 of the core book.
