Did anybody else here see similarities between Coriolis and Fading Suns?
I've thought about trying to retrofit FS onto the Coriolis. But in re-reading FS recently while waiting for more material for Coriolis, I return to assessment when I first got in in 2000-01.
I find the setting is too ordered, too structured. It still feels like there's no room for improvisation jazz.
It's too... forgive the double entendre... Byzantine for my tastes.
Houses divided by ethnicity, with little or no mestiza cultures? FS certainly isn't the streets of _Blade Runner_ with a language that is Japanese/Spanish/Hungarian/German/Chinese/Korean all at once. Too clinically divided, rather than blended, for my taste.

That said, I still like the idea of using FS as if it is what came before, several centuries (or more) before the Third Horizon.
Which makes sense going from the Byzantine to Ottoman flavoring...

Lots of good stuff there. I heard this: <Song of the Siren>
on the radio the other day (I have no idea how I missed it in the 80s) and decided it would be the theme of my Coriolis campaign.
The entirety of Passion from Peter Gabriel is excellent (music from Last Temptation).
Rachid Taha ("Barra Barra") also has an Arabic-language version of "Rock The Casbah".
Several other tracks from BHD are quite Arabesque.
You might want to check out Dead Can Dance, as well. :)
The Canadian band, The Tea Party's Alhambra ep has some indigenous musical reworkings of their own previous songs...

Obviously a different game, but I believe there is a lot of potential "cross over" between the HaqqIslam faction of Infinity (miniatures and RPG) and Coriolis. The setting is very different, but I can see some of the art, miniatures, subfactions, subplots, ideas and so on being more or less transferable.

I liked what I saw on the HaqqIslam website, because their miniatures seem to display individuals mostly, not faceless armies. Then again, thanks Coriolis for trying to stay somewhat apolitical... :P

Love the detail of these miniatures. I keep trying to find some that aren't armed to the teeth. :)

I don't see Coriolis as being apolitical at all.
There is a cultural setting full of political strife, religious fanaticism, and even some misfit agnostics who attempt to turn their backs on it all (to face the Darkness alone, it would seem).
It's just not engaged in the politics of this world. And it shouldn't be. The culture in Coriolis has evolved, ebbed, and mutated from the factions we have on our pale blue dot.

Well, that's what I meant. Any halfway complex fictional political and religious system allows the analogy to the present day.

Having an actual "remake" religion in a game however...

Have anyone been watching the Syfy TV show "Killjoys"? (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3952222/)

I was pleased to to see that there are some oriental influenses In this series.
For example:
Image

(A lot of reviews compare it to Firefly. But thats just hopeful thinking, setting the expectations ridiculously high. It's not a new Firefly. Although it could be the best Sci fi show I've seen since Firefly)
