I've thought about trying to retrofit FS onto the Coriolis. But in re-reading FS recently while waiting for more material for Coriolis, I return to assessment when I first got in in 2000-01.Did anybody else here see similarities between Coriolis and Fading Suns?
I find the setting is too ordered, too structured. It still feels like there's no room for improvisation jazz.
It's too... forgive the double entendre... Byzantine for my tastes.
Houses divided by ethnicity, with little or no mestiza cultures? FS certainly isn't the streets of _Blade Runner_ with a language that is Japanese/Spanish/Hungarian/German/Chinese/Korean all at once. Too clinically divided, rather than blended, for my taste.
That said, I still like the idea of using FS as if it is what came before, several centuries (or more) before the Third Horizon.
Which makes sense going from the Byzantine to Ottoman flavoring...
