If Angela Lin has replaced Maria Hemming from 1st Edition (Why? Seems like an unnecessary change.), remove Hemming's name from page 8. If the facehugger was removed from Marachuck before it implanted its payload, where has the chestburster come from? This is one of the very active 'huggers that stalks Ripley and Newt in the medlab in Aliens. Stop it with the name dropping and choose some other random colonist, or better, another member of Reynolds' visiting team to deploy the chestburster from. Reynolds, Komiskey and team are not native to LV-426, are here on an unscheduled visit and will not have implanted PDT's viewable on the Operations terminal. Komiskey's scalpel doing more as much damage as a fire axe or more than a pistol? Seems off. No investigating the underground areas? I'd also swap out the grenades for the pulse rifle for seismic survey charges. I don't see civilians having access to military grade weapons - even the PR seems a bit of a stretch, but it could always belong to the colony marshal I suppose.

Maybe add dice result on panic response cards next to response name?

Hi! I send my comments:

1. In the HOPE’S LAST DAY pdf, in the section XENOMORPHS the Chestburster signature attack #5 says "If the attack causes damage, the victim immediately suffers a busted knee serious injury (page xx)."
But in the rulebook of the starter box there is no reference to Serious Injuries, so the GM would not be able to apply the effect.

2. In the Theodora Komiskey stats Health is in 8 and according the rules, should it be 3 (2 Strenght + 4 Agility) / 2

The basic rules for androids (they don't get sress not roll stress/panic) are missing, since adroid is a PC character in the scenario, they should be in the starter rules.

Too many 5's on the Rexim EVA Pistol card. Should read M5, not M55. The card for the Smartgun lists it as the Heavy Pulse Rifle. The Heavy Pulse Rifle card shows a picture of the Weyland Storm Rifle. The Ammo values on these two items appear to be the wrong way around as well. The Smartgun should have the higher value, right? The AK-4047 says Armour Piercing when the weapon has never had that capability. The RPG has a negative modifier. As this is a military weapon with a specific task and a sighting system rather than an improvised weapon like the Bolt Gun I am assuming this is a mistake and should either be a +1 or a flat out "no bonus -" like on the Harpoon Gun or the Plasma Rifle. The Weyland ES-4 should have Stun listed under special abilities rather than next to the base damage rating. The word grenade is misspelled as grenate on the Pulse Rifle card. Lore wise, the F44AA should have more Ammo than the M41A, probably closer to the Heavy Pulse Rifle - I'd suggest changing that Ammo rating to 4 rather than 3. The Magnum Revolver is still too heavy. It shouldn't be any larger than the other pistols and certainly takes up less space than a rifle or bolt gun.

Lurker01 you bring up some excellent observations that I had seen too. Replace Maria Hemming with Angela Lin (I had seen that Maria's name was still present in the PDT description) + To answer the question of the Marachuck subject, I find it interesting that this name is present here. Bishop says, "Surgically removed before embryo implantation. Subject: Marachuk, John J., died during the procedure.' They killed him taking it off" ... he died without the payload ... I bring up the following theory, John Marachuck did not die immediately during the surgery, they put him in the morgue but there was still a noticeable pulse. The doctors were too busy with other patients to realize it. One of the many facehuggers circulating in the colony sensed that he was still alive and took the opportunity to contaminate him. + Komiskey and Reynolds' PDTs could very well have visitors PDT for their planned inspection of the colony. Or, they themselves have a PDT that activates when you arrive at any location, a sort of company security procedure. It makes sense. + I too would have liked to have some maps of the other Blocks, only a visit to the E Block and the Casino in this "expanded" cinematic. I'll possibly add some maps for myself when I redo this scenario, so I'll share them with you. I think we're allowed to be a little disappointed, even though there are several great ideas in this new adaptation. The idea that the elevators and stairs are blocked and that players have to take the ventilation ducts is great.

My overall assessment is that it's a very good cinematic. I completely understand the decision to restrict people to the E Block and Casino. I think the miniatures rules will ensure that the action takes place in restricted areas now. There will be less movement because it requires the design team to create maps of all potential locations with a 1-meter-by-1-meter resolution. This is the reason I see in this cinematic for not having more places to explore (there are only crazy people like me who will make all these maps later ... to complete the project).

Thanks Tomas, Dave, Matthew and the team, the new version of Hope's Last Day is very good and it meets my expectations.

P.S.1 you could have included a group of looters who come to rob the casino in a 1st act or 2nd act at the same time as the PCs come to help Osterman, it would have been a nice nod to your cinematic "Hope's Last Hand". And that makes more NPCs. For example, the starting sequence could be, the E Block is watched by a xenomorph outside, the PCs then enter through the casino and it becomes the 1st act. The skywalk is blocked to reach E Block, the characters go back through the south lock. The 2nd act is the visit with the E Block Level 1 Reynolds and 3rd act we end with the rescue of Komiskey and the race towards the shuttle.

P.S.2 If you want to add a map, the map that must be made would be the "Air Traffic Control building with the Landing Pad and the shuttle". It would be good for your final and more. With the design of the Casino, it is possible to add ourselves (each Game Mother) a small expanded scenario with a group of looters who come to steal the casino at the same time that Osterman is in trouble with his xenomorph (nod on the Hope's Last Hand cinematic). The 2nd small expanded scenario (that I am considering) is to bring a group to launch the message (activate the beacon in the Air Traffic Control building) alerting that the Hadley's Hope colony is in trouble. Another reference to another scenario from Dave & Matthew Hope's Last Stand. So, if you want to add a map, it would be good to have the "Air Traffic Control Building with the Landing Pad and the Shuttle".

Regarding the starter set rules booklet:
1. The "Player Versus Player" box on page 3 explains that the PC who "turned traitor" becomes an NPC, but the previous edition specified that this is for cinematic play specifically, and that the same is not necessarily true of campaign play. Is this a deliberate change or an accidental omission from the evolved edition rules?

2. In the "Stress Response" paragraph on page 6, the first sentence opens with "If you roll ZZ on one or more stress dice in a skill roll". "ZZ" should be replaced with the facehugger symbol used for a 1 on a stress die.

3. In the "Crawlspaces" section on page 9, the last sentence of the first paragraph reads "Crawlspaces can run by the side of rooms and corridors, above them or underneath them (in which case just the outline is shown the adventure maps).". The word "on" should be added between "shown" and "the adventure maps".

4. At several points throughout the book, the text refers to an "adjacent" table or list (full actions on page 13, quick actions on page 13, barriers on page 18, panic rolls on page 21). However, the actual table or list is either above the paragraph that's referring to it, or on the following page. Depending on the final layout for the book, this wording may need to change.

5. In the flowchart for ranged combat attacks on page 17, one of the boxes at the third step reads "Target doesn't defend" by mistake instead of "Target doesn't dodge". I think this line might have just been partially copied from the close combat attacks flowchart.

6. In the "Panic Response" table on page 22, the entries for "Freeze" and "Scream" read like they're missing a word before "unable to perform any interrupt actions before then". I noticed a similar issue with the panic cards as well, which have the same wording. I've suggested some potential rewrites below, with bolding to highlight parts that I've changed:
  • You're frozen by fear, losing your next turn, and are unable to perform any interrupt actions before then.
  • You scream your lungs out, losing your next turn, and are unable to perform any interrupt actions before then. Your stress level is reduced 1 step, but every friendly PC in the zone must make an immediate panic roll.

Close combat - special attacks:
Pass, Shove and Grapple can be done against Xeno I presume, but it is not clear if and how can Xeno defend.
Grapple - "This is a full action and an opposed CLOSE COMBAT roll against you" - it is not clear, if the "this" is the original grapple attack or the break free.
