Think I somehow will need to use the fact that Swedish religious mystic Emanuel Swedenborg is buried inside the dome of Upsala! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emanuel_Swedenborg

It would be great, except he wasn’t originally buried there...
He was buried in the Swedish Church in Princes Square in Shadwell, London. On the 140th anniversary of his death, in 1912/1913, his remains were transferred to Uppsala Cathedral in Sweden, where they now rest close to the grave of the botanist Carl Linnaeus.
But thanks for bringing him to attention, he’s a fascinating character. His work would indeed fit in a Vaesen story!

Ah, indeed! This is all intriguing. Lets put a spin on this...Some disciples of Emanuel might be getting visions, perhaps Emanuel's spirit might want to be returned to Upsala for a "protected" burial. Perhaps the Swedenborgians are causing trouble for the Society, forcing the Society to contact ES' spirit in order to make them stop.

PS the Cathedral is one of the largest in the Nordics and surely must be used as a site for a dramatic climax in some way. The Linné connection is also worth considering for an adventure option.

Just read about the case of "Thiess of Kaltenbrun" (look up in the wikipedia) the "Werewolf of God".

An 80 year old man claims to be a werewolf and is therefore brought to trail because he has to have a deal with the devil.
But the problem is, that he has to confess, what he didn´t do and couldn´t be tortued (just forbidden by the swedish king). He claims to be leader of a pact of werewolves, who from time to time raid hell to fight the devil. Whoever wins this annual fight determines the harvest of the coming year.

Very interesting story, that could easily be transformed as background story for a vaesen adventure.

I would really urge the team behind to add a short intro scenario that introduces the characters to the Sight and the setting. Nothing too complicated. Just a reason as to why they all discover the sight, and why they should stick together and try to stop vaesen infestations. Perhaps they are all invited to a seance at a remote place and they discover the legend of the Society and "inherits" the castle. Should help introduce the players, sort of like a tv series.

I'm seriously considering altering the scenario we already have to make it just that: I would remove the Private Investigator completely, and the flyers too, and make the PCs random travelers who come back from Sigtuna to Uppsala with a night coach, and I would make it a stormy night, with a terrible accident that kills the driver and injures the horses, and in the distance, they would see the Witch Cat inn, and go there for help, only there would be no available vehicle for a day or two, and they would discover strange things nobody seems to notice in the inn... you see where this is going.
I was thinking that, after this experience, a new Vaesen encounter in Uppsala would make Linnea (or in my case, Vera, who replaces her) notice them, and only then, they could enter the Society.

Prepping an intro scenario. Not so fond of the one included in the core book. Planning to use The Condemned from Call of Cthulhu. But I want to tone down the almost 7even-esque murderhorror in that one, and get a softer ˋvaesen´-vibe instead.

What do you think of using a mare instead of the the immortal witch, Sermon Bishop? The mare, imprisoned alive by members of the Society hundreds of years ago, is accidently released and seeks revenge on the descendents. Players must find clues to the murders and might even find out they are on the kill list...

Setting would be Upsala, and since it is mostly city based it will give the players a good look at the city. I will let the players find out about the old society and let them find and inherit the castle as the finale. Perhaps Linnea could be a descendant on the revenge list.

A mare, ghast or ghost might work as the antagonist, as they are humanoid and could possess humans. Any other suggestions?

I have decided to let a mare with the ’possess’/transfer mind be the culprit in the scenario. Switched the hapless students in the original Condemned scenario to two female students from Upsala University (in real life, women were admitted to studies in 1870). The freed mare will seek out the descendants. Players will prob suspect an immortal witch is loose, as I will keep the nature of the thread rather unclear initially, but lean heavily on periodic stories/texts from actual witchtrials. The original seven people who put a stop to the mare in 1660 were part of Artemis, with Linnea E last on the list of descendents that the mare will go after as part of her revenge/curse. By dropping hints in handouts/story about Artemis back then, I will introduce the castle, the Society, vaesens etc, and end with the transfer of the found castle to the newly resurrected Society, maybe with a showdown there.

I might put up some handouts in The Swedish forum soon.

PS I highly recommend the scenario from Arkham Unveiled. The above will be clearer at least... :)
