Re: Vaesen Core Rulebook Official Errata and Clarifications

Also, please add the following errata as it's an obvious one and I'm surprised it's not in the list above already. Thanks.

PAGE 50 - CHANGE: Emergency Medicine - Ignore Physical conditions when using Medicine.

Medicine is a physical skill, not a mental one, and it does not normally take negative modifiers from mental conditions, so talent as written currently doesn't actually do anything.

Yes that is correct (and the Swedish version will be updated as well).
Where do i find the updated version in Swedish? I went and re-downloaded it from RPG but it was the old version still.

There is no updated version yet (I least not what I am aware off). This list is what we have until they do make a re-print (or just update the pdf).

Has there been any update on the, well, update? DTRPG still has the pre-errata text.

I read page 166: "As soon as the total amount of damage exceeds her Toughness value, the NPC becomes Broken". Then in following paragraph: "Most NPCs have 1 point in physical and mental Toughness. In other words, they can either take two physical or two mental injuries before becoming Broken". Does that mean that they are broken when they take 2 physical damages or 3?

Will this be updated with all the changes finalized for the updated core rulebook that was just posted and made available as a PDF to download? Will the new character sheets be made available as a PDF to download?

I guess this goes here, and I apologise for commenting on a product long since published. I was just a bit perplexed by the translation of Kråkslott (for the society HQ) to "Castle". This brings to mind turrets and kings and knights and bright banners blowing in the breeze. For kråkslott (and most kinds of -slott as well as chateau and schloss in FR and DE), Mansion or Manor House might be a better translation. Or just the evocative House. Especially if you want to evoke the dilapidated manors of the victorian gentry, or that great crumbling House of Usher...

The major changes are:
  • Option: Simplified init - PCs first, GMs hordes next.
  • In the Starter Set the wait rule from Dragonbane replaces the card-swapping at the start of the round rule: For short, you can only change init at the start of your turn and then to someone that acts after you. They can't refuse and must act. Everything that is your turn is moved to your new init. New init cards are dealt each round.
The Core Rulebook has the old initiative rule. Those that have both the Starter Set and the Core Rulebook can choose which method that they prefer.
  • Option: Simplified crits: Instead of critical injuries you have Force rolls (technically a death roll) or Observation roll (the mental version of a death roll).
  • You roll to to recover from fear each turn instead of waiting d6 turns.
  • The gear section has been made more clear. The only change pretty much is that you no longer can keep +1 item at the end of a mystery besides your three personal items. It is more clear that all so called temporary items are removed and it is also clear that for the next mystery you also again will have your starting capital to use. This is technically no change (besides that you can't save any items), but instead more of a clarification of how it works. This also defuses any exploits regarding this that I have seen over the years by some players.
  • Some of the functions in the HQ has been updated: The Cellar Vault lets you store 1 item per rank instead of 3. The Local Tavern now gives one PC per rank +2 instead of +1. The Botanical Garden heals 1 condition instead of 2. The Occult Archive lets you store 1 power item per rank instead of 3.
