Or. You could play Rifts. It has tons of mecha stuff and it takes place after the apocalypse.

I'm not a long time fan but I also think this would be kinda contrary to the setting. I think that there are other good games with similar settings that could scratch this itch for you. Now if you are already someone who plays T2K or MYZ I think it could be fun for you to adapt the rules to include that as a home brew. I am a huge fan of Dieselpunk and love mecha and would love to see something like that, Personally I am waiting for the world of 1920+ (Iron Harvest) to be turned into a TTRPG but I know there are some other systems that support it. IIRC there is some stuff in the Alien RPG that Fria Ligan also published that could be adapted as rules for mecha and what not. it should also be based on the MYZ system so it shouldn't be too hard to home brew. I just don't see it happening for T2K, it's set 20ish years ago and we don't even have mecha stuff nowadays, I just don't see the Sovs or the west developing that kind of technology within 10 years of 1990.

Why not??? This is a war that never was full of technology that never got to be.

Here's the trick, they'd need to run on alcohol or they'd be done by the start of the game, be relatively simple and pretty resistant to small arm's fire. The idea being an exo-suit that can stabilize a heavy machinegun and an anti-tank missile. They'd need to be small enough and agile enough to move through the woods and able to move through wreckage in cities. Their role would not replace armored transports or Main Battle Tanks but serve as an intermediary for patrolling abandoned parts of the city or pursuing infantry into the woods when they retreat, or provide protection to soldiers while they secure villages that may have insurgency troops in the population.

They'd be 90's technology so probably a powered generator driving hydrolic legs and actuators, long legs and big all-terrrain bird feet, limited night vision, encrypted radio, hot and uncomfortable, parascopic viewing like a tank hatch. Tall enough to see over a crowd but small enough to get under a freeway overpass.

It is the apocalypse so these things are patched together and probably weren't super reliable when they were new. Their missiles are probably hard to come by much less any decent quantity of heavy machinegun ammunition. Here's where there's more bad news. They're probably not Nato. Most of the late-era technology will come from the Bloc because they're still connected to their supply line so likely the only way players get to ride into battle in Warsaw in Dragoon battlemechs is if they capture a truck-full of them being transported to the front.
