Their were definately a number of discussions on the forums in the past about how to make WP more usable including using it to allow monsters to reroll attacks, negate damage, or do extra damage.

But they arent in the book, they were discussions here, because before we decided maybe to just abandon WP entirely it made sense to figure out alternate uses for it. :)

I personally use WP still. I use Coriolis as a guide line for triggering environmental effects and "traps" and I make it so that with a monster I can spend 2 WP to pick an attack instead of rolling for one. More human NPCs use WP as per normal. I gain 1 WP when they enter a new hex, when they fail a journey roll, when they push a roll, when NPCs push rolls following the same rules as players, and adventure sites give me a set number of WP. I can also spend WP to force a resource dice roll (creating something like triggered food spoilage and kind of an analog to weapons needing to be reloaded in Coriolis).

It's still in testing. And I am tweaking things around and adding/removing options. But I like that those options are on my table under the restriction of a meta currency and the players also like knowing that I am not just arbitrarily doing things to them. They know that when that resource die gets rolled its because I spent points. Or that the NPCs spells are fueled by something.
