My reasoning is that the Guide is under no jeopardy whatsoever. Even if the Guide rolls poorly and the journey takes longer, the Guide will never be the brunt of a bad result. Only the Hunter, Look-out and Scout may get harmed, while the Guide is completely immune. Seems unfair to me.

Wait, aren't there some potential results that bring harm or misfortune to the entire party, including the Guide?

Yes, Otaku-sempai, I think so, examples: In Despair cases, the whole company is affected on failure of the ability check. And for Mishaps, a day can be added to the journey (affects all). For Joyful sights, the whole company gets inspiration.

The players can choose a different guide for each journey if they want to. If they choose the best guide (same hero every time) based on hero proficiencies, then that's fine too, that hero gets a benefit based on their specific character development choices, but only for the journey system aspect which is a small part of the whole adventure.
