ill tempered and Spellcasting

Tue 24 Dec 2024, 23:37

I was listening to a podcast where mallard wizard used his ill tempered ability to cast a a spell. Is that possible?

The mallard ability says:

ABILITY: ILL-TEMPERED
✦ Willpower Points: 3 Mallards tend to have a choleric temper. You can activate this ability (no action) when making a skill roll and get a boon to the roll. You also become Angry, if you’re not already. This ability cannot be used for rolls against INT or INT based skills.

Since it says “This ability cannot be used for rolls against INT or INT based skills.” I thought you cannot use it for Spellcasting. Am I reading this right?

Ill tempered gives you a boon on a skill roll. The ability can't be used for INT rolls or INT-based skill rolls. You can of course roll for INT-based skills or roll for INT, you just can't use this ability when you do so. If you have the Angry condition, you can still roll for INT-based skills or do INT rolls, you just do it with a Bane.

Thank you, that’s what I thought.
