Hi everyone. I was reading my way through the RoS players guide and arrived at page 106 where the Monster Hunter approach is presented. I noticed in the Trapper section that the same class feature is presented twice. The first paragraph says "At 3rd level, you become proficient with alchemical and mechanical traps. You can use your action during combat to deploy a mechanical trap within 5 feet of your position." The second paragraph talks about "level 6" but is essentially identical to the first paragraph. It starts "At 6th level, you can use your action during combat to deploy a mechanical or alchemical trap within 5 feet of your position."

I think this is a mistake and the designers meant to detail a new feature for "level 6" for this approach. Is this a known error and has an errata been produced that presents what the 6th level feature was supposed to be?

I'm not in a place to compare my notes or even look at the text in the rulebook, but looking at what you've quoted, it seems that deploying an alchemical trap within 5 feet without making any sort of ability check seems to be the step up for 6th level.

Okay, in looking at these paragraphs again, there is only one difference between the 3rd level paragraph and the 6th level paragraph. The difference is that the sixth level paragraph adds the phrase "or alchemical" to the description.

3rd Level: "You can use your action during combat to deploy a mechanical trap within 5 feet of your position."

6th Level: "You can use your action during combat to deploy a mechanical or alchemical trap within 5 feet of your position."

That is REALLY subtle but it is a difference.
