Solo Loop and thoughts

Thu 09 Jan 2025, 09:43

Hi everyone, how do you handle solo play? I haven’t created a Heaven but instead play as more of a traveler type with a dog.

When you enter a new sector, you roll Scout and check if there’s an Event.
Let’s say there’s no Event. What do you do then?

Does that mean there won’t be any more Events in this grid/section for the day?
Maybe try to scavenge? And if everything goes smoothly, you find a place to sleep and then repeat?
Is that how you envision a solo game?

I’d really appreciate your input on the solo loop—what you do or what you would do in my situation!

I think that'd be a sensible approach.

There are a few youtubers who've done a fair bit of solo TWD play. The first one's a more general thing of preparing for solo play, the second is a guy playing through.

A simple way to do it is to decide what the overarching story is.

Is it your character struggling alone? If so, then no need for events. Just fight against walkers hunger and disease. As well as losing one's self to loneliness and isolation. Like cast away... their wasn't large events other than storms and what have you once he was on the island. It was about his point of view on it and how it affected him.

If you have a different goal then don't roll for certain parts to happen. They just need to happen in some way to get the story going.
