A: Romulus: First 70% is really good. Last 30 % is ok, even with the Resurrection-vibes.

Easily the best movie this year. I even consider seeing it twice at the cinema, and that was a long time since I did.

it is funny because I watched it from an RPG perspective the first 2/3rd is good where as the last part felt like the GM needed to wrap up the session and throw in all their ideas

Based on Box Office Mojo - it has made over $285 million against an $80 million budget - very good for a film like that

I finally saw Alien Romulus .... it took a while but it was worth it ... a great movie from A to Z, even the ending is great. Fede Alvarez is a great director, hopefully he makes more Alien movies in the franchise.

I regret paying too much attention to the reviews. I don't understand the bad reviews about Alien Romulus. It's a great movie, very entertaining. The Alien vibe is very present and that's 90% of the success. It doesn't give too much information about the company and what they actually did so it opens the door to other developments.

I don't want to give too many more details. The aspects that reference Alien Resurrection at the end are very acceptable though. The Offspring is played by an actor (Robert Bobroczkyi). He is a seven-foot Basketball player. I thought it was 100% CGI. And no it's not.

I recommend you all to watch this movie and not pay too much attention to the criticisms about it. This movie is pure Alien DNA.

I thought the end was a really nice way to merge the original Big Chap (also played by an incredibly tall and thin guy) while fixing up a lot of the "meh" of the ending of Resurrection... as if to say "Resurrection could have been more like this" maybe.

But I agree. Romulus goes in the rotation and is definitely entertaining, with a lot of interesting expansions to the setting that can inform the RPG and bring more fun at the table.

Yes ExileInParadise, it's a nice nod to Bolaji Badejo from Alien 1979. You're totally right. I have nothing but nice words for Fede Alvarez.

I think the "Hollywood machine" was too big for the young French director Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Alien Ressurection) who had made excellent films in France. When you have 10 producers putting pressure on the set in Hollywood, it can make anyone crack. Agreeing to "keep" the end of the film and "release it publicly" takes balls ... they should have done "re-shoots" and redo a makeup that holds and taken the time to do things right for Alien Ressurection (ending) ... but the Hollywood machine is unstoppable sometimes.

But as you said ExileInParadise, this (Alien Ressurection) goes in tier 2 (entertainment) in the rotation...

Here is the guy ... Robert Bobroczkyi, the Offspring in Alien Romulus.
He is a seven-foot Basketball player.
