Hello Vaesen Experts, please help...
After playing a few games with different DMs, I am a little confused about how Advantage is implemented in practice.
P24 of the core rules explains that one the way to the mystery, you gain an advantage that can only be used once per mystery.
Examples are given and a scenario but... I'm still confused and different Dms seem to do different things.
I seek clarification for when I Dm a game.
1/ Am I right in assuming that the advantage is chosen/ decided during the journey to the mystery (i.e. on the train ride or whatever)?
2/ Does the player choose the advantage or the DM?
3/If it is the player, do they say something like: "I have been practicing every day this week at the shooting range, so I have an advantage with my ranged combat rolls" during the journey? If not, how is it stated and by whom?
4/ During the adventure, the player then says, "I am using my advantage to shoot my pistol because I have been practicing at the shooting range this week" before rolling any dice or before pushing, right?
5/ If this is wrong (or it is the DM who decided this), please describe how this would come about (with examples if possible).
