Books and skill boons

Sat 24 Aug 2024, 08:46

The entry in the gear section for books says that they give a boon to skill checks for a specific skill. This sounds very powerful. I am assuming that isn’t a one off boon but stays in effect as long as the PC has the book? Or is a permanent boon once they have read the book maybe?

How is everyone else playing this rule?

I am finding lots of instances where players have access to books in old studies and ruined buildings, so would like to add some books in without it overpowering them. Good to know what anyone else has done.

They get the boon as long as they have the book and spends time looking through it while doing the task.

It would be tremendous amount of book-keeping if you get a boon forever just because you read a book once.

Thanks, I guess that makes sense so it acts like they are getting help from someone.
