Looks like Alien Romulus will be awesome ...

Reading the reviews. We read that the signature is of very high quality. The music is close to Jerry Goldsmith. The structure of Alien 1979 is kept with a somewhat far-fetched finale. All this presented with the greatest respect for the fan-base. Candy for the fans. Can't wait to see it ....

I saw it a few hours ago and I liked it plenty. The acting, sets, atmosphere, and creatures are great.

There were a few things I didn't care as much for, but even they were mostly well done.

It is also worth mention that the film has a relatively modest budget ($80 million), and they spent it all on practical sets and such. Some of the (not many) CGI things in the film aren't as good as a $200-500 million budget film would do them. 10/10 for effort and franchise love

Yep...was fantastic and I 'hope' sets the mark for Alien:Earth and future movies. I'm also curious if the 2nd edition's coinciding with the movie means an updated timeline and canon reflected in the book.

I will not post any spoilers but my impressions were:

No complaints with writing, visuals, sound design, acting, etc ... all great.

It was intended for a Hulu release but was worth a full price viewing in IMAX, and would watch it again full price in IMAX.

Roughly as enjoyable as Alien: Covenant and for many of the same reasons.

It will go into "the rotation" in chronological order as I watch through the entire franchise in a loop, right after Alien: Isolation.

It will be interesting to pick up any behind the scenes art books and other stuff that may appear to mine lore from for the RPG.

Alien Romulus is playing at my local cinema today, and I'm planning to catch a showing. I'm looking forward to seeing if it lives up to the hype. I'll be sure to post my review after I watch it.

I watched the movie and loved it . It catches the atmosphere of the very first movie . My only gripe is the ending ,I found that just weird . Shades of alien resurrection, a movie that is best forgotten . Other than that I thoroughly recommend it

Saw it a week ago and really enjoyed it!
It looks and sounds great, atmosphere and design is 10/10 and so much fodder for players/gms!

The script was basic and pretty uninteresting but only really functions to herd the characters into a disastrous situation so it works.
Some weird tie-ins to the first movie that felt forced and fell really flat.

The acting was decent, some really good but aside from one interesting character they were all simplistic, dull and imo badly written.

The fan service was at times great and at times so forced it was annoying.

The ending was out of place and while disturbing and unnerving it felt really bad.

Overall as a fan im fairly happy with it, could wish for something less targeted at teenages but thats life i guess as im getting old.

Edit:
Its good as a souce material and getting "into the mood", but id rather play or even watch a playthrough of Isolation for that.

I haven't seen it yet... I'm resisting...

I'll probably go see it with my 2 sons soon.

Anyway, I think many people are wearing a very rose tinted set of glasses when watching this movie. (alternatively just starving for alien content)
