Mount recovery

Sun 10 Mar 2024, 23:22

We are in our first adventure and two of the players have a mount. They had to leave them behind while entering an area and as the story is progressing they won’t be coming out the way they went in so…..

Any creative ideas how to have them rejoin with their mounts? I imagine this will happen a lot while adventuring in Middle Earth, maybe there is also a rule that I missed?

Just get them back in the Fellowship phase, new mounts or the old ones, whichever makes narrative sense.

As Harlath said, they will just have to wait until the next Fellowship Phase. They're in good company - the same thing happened to the Fellowship when they entered Moria.

I would take into account the behaviour of the player-heroes:

If they had no choice but to leave the mounts, and they are sad to lose them, then they should get them back in the fellowship phase.

On the other hand if they were not treating the mounts with appropriate care, I might say they have to do without a mount for a while (maybe they get a new pony but it doesn't like them, so has zero vigour).

Fellowship-phase seems the easiest and most logical way to solve it. They really care about their mounts.

Thanks for all your input.

Depending how long the adventurers were away from their horses, they simply could look for them using Hunting or Explore. Some horses or ponies could even come back on their own.
