My own Player Aid

Thu 23 Nov 2023, 23:50

So, I made several small player aids for TOR, like big cards you could print out.
But I'm not sure if I'm allowed to share them here since they use some of the graphics (like the leaf border, the Gandalf and Eye symbol, the adventure/skill point table) of the original.

Could I share them or should I strip all graphics off?

Generally they are under copyright, as the imprints of the books show. Why not ask them officially?

You can always publish them for free or "pay what you want" in Drivethroughrpg by following the guidelines in the Free League Community Content.

https://freeleaguepublishing.com/community-content/

Edit: I just read the community content is for the dragonbane and zero gear engine, ToR may be something else...still community content is a good start.

Yeah, that's the problem.
It isn't exactly clear to me what's allowed with fanmade material regarding The One Ring.

But I send an official question to customer support.

Ideally, you should submit your work to Free League. Then, if they like it, they can publish it and you get paid. Or they may say we don't want to publish it, but its okay for you to offer it for free (or maybe even grant you license to publish for profit). Or they may even say nope, we can't allow it at all.

I'm not sure my reading of the community content rules allows for LOTR themed items though. The copyright for lotr is ultimately held by Middle-Earth Enterprises and is definitely enforced.

Jlanden is right, the content you've put on here is nicely done and although it needs editing and refinement, it is worth having them look at and if nothing else they can give you guidance on what you can do with it.
