Really interesting work and well done!

In 4e canon, PACT appears to have broken up due to the Soviets having to push their forces through NATO countries in the region. For example, we know that in 4e canon the US sent troops (ostensibly the US V Corps) to reinforce Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania, who "all happily received them." We also know that the US V corps was fighting the Soviets in Slovakia and later had to retreat to the Czech Republic by the year 2000. With that all said, is this intended to be for an earlier version of T2k? Or is this intended as an alternative history for 4e where PACT remained intact?

The SW TVD was the poor relation of the Warsaw Pact - there were only a handful of Soviet units on hand -- the bulk of the forces were locals.

If the Pact broke apart then the start of WW3 in Germany makes no sense at all -- the whole Soviet southern flank is unsecured (of course, of all the iterations of TW 2000, only the 1st and 2nd Editions made any real sense) -- in fact, it's best to ignore canon and assume that some sort of offensive operations under Pact auspices go on in the SW TVD.

If you wish to adhere to the not very believable 'canon' (invading Sweden by sea and air, semi-successfully? really!) then this isn't for you - but, then, the previous PGD products (Cat IV Wartime Mobilisation Only Divisions and Battlegroup Blue: Escape to the West, probably aren't, either, as they ignore the less believable parts of 'canon' ... like the frankly silly claims in Black Madonna that the Soviet 20th Tank has T-55's which they can't use because no ammo, see, despite the fact of what is happening in Ukraine at the moment on both sides and that T-55s formed a signirficant part of Pact/ex-Pact forces still IRL right through to the late 1990's/early Oughties).

SW TVD assumes a concurrent offensive by the Pact through Austria and parts of (a fractured) Yugoslavia into southern Germany and towards Italy (as well as, in part #2, on Greece and Turkey) which NATO counters successfully with mainly local forces -- if you want to adhere to a the Canon, fine ... but in Book #1 you have Austrian, French, Canadian, and limited US forces (third line National Guard) facing off against Czechoslovak, Hungarian and Soviet forces (some remnants of pre-war units, mostly Cat IV and even Training units committed in the last gasp - like Hitler committing the Wehrkreis Training units in 1945 ... momentary boost, but no more replacements ... ever ...) and a fractured political situation in Slovakia, a rebellious sorta pro-western Hungarian Republic (western Hungary) facing off a still pro-Soviet People's Reublic in the centre and east.

It's all about options ...

If you think that Mad Max Poland/Sweden adventuring is all TW2000 is about then, no, this isn't for you ... if you want some realistic late post nuclear war military operations like 1st and 2nd Edition allowed for, then this may be.

Clear as mud?
