FG rulesets are outsourced to users for the most part. So it would be up to someone wanting to handle the IP, then negotiating with both smiteworks and frialigan.

HOWEVER, I would like to direct you to the extremely good official foundryvtt support for Forbidden Lands. It absolutely blew me away with its level of polish and the folks working on it have put a lot of work into it since.

I say this as someone who has spent a lot of time in Fantasygrounds, for Forbidden Lands if it was to get a VTT implementation it would have to be extremely good, as in better than their current gold standard.

The modules I would use with it are:
- Dice so Nice (the forbidden lands 3D dice look like their physical counterparts)
- World Explorer (this handles hexploration. I made a parchment version of the ravenlands to be uncovered as the party traveled)
- Quick Insert (ctrl+space brings up a text entry field, type whatever you want and it will search every entry in your campaign... especially good for populating items, enemies and finding journal entries)
- Simple Calendar (has the ravenlands calendar support built in, very powerful, very easy to use)

Some things to note, look in the macro tab of the official module as it has a bunch already made for the system. Also while the forbidden lands ruleset has the original soundtrack, for whatever reason the bitter reach doesn't (far from a dealbreaker ofc, just something to note).

Oh and if you want Fantasygrounds style encounters grab the quick encounters module.

The other year zero rulesets aren't quite as polished as FL is in foundry, but there has been a lot of cross pollination of work between them so on a technical level they are all quite strong.

I really don't understand how anyone could have a positive opinion of Foundry. I started a Forbidden Lands campaign on there that my group has been playing for 2 years now and I still desperately wish for a Fantasy Grounds release. Foundry is a buggy mess that is missing tons of key features that need to be added via 3rd party mods, and then as soon as you update the program everything breaks and takes weeks to be fixed. I've even had the core Forbidden Lands modules break in an update that told me they would be ok.

Foundry versus FG feels like night and day to me. FG is a polished, user-friendly product. Foundry feels like it's asking me to learn programming on the back end just to make sure their jank VTT works. Anyway, I would buy FL again if it ever released on Fantasy Grounds and migrate my campaign overnight.

As an alternative, I and my group have been playing on roll20, strangely enough completely for free, for the last years. It has never broken, and the user sefnerr on these forums have even improved the templates a lot during the last months. So that is a working alternative, if you can afford some time to set things up.
You might want to create/import some macros. I have made and shared such, but they use Reforged Power alternative rules. That said you might still find some of them usable/moddable, and the readme gives tips on how to import macros and tables.

Edit: Added an image of what my setup looks like (roll20-setup-example.png, see the link), there is a high chance you have a better setup or better ideas than mine, but I'll share it, as it might at least give you some inspiration.

Would you mind sharing how you did this? I’ve been trying to do something similar, but can’t work out how to make the image I use as fog of war the correct size to overlay correctly.
