Free League Workshop T2k Template

Sat 11 Mar 2023, 02:16

Hello all,

I've written an adventure module for 4e but attempting to port it into the FL Workshop T2k Word template is giving me fits. It's taking longer to format one page in the template than it did to write the entire module. Are there any tutorial videos or other how-to resources out there that could help? I'd really like to get this creation out into the world soon but the layout process is proving to be a major obstacle. I finished writing the adventure months ago but every time I sit down to tackle layout in the template, I get so frustrated that I rage quit and don't come back to it again for a couple of weeks (at least).

Maybe someone here has successfully used the FLW World template and can troubleshoot for me? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Peace,

A

The first issue of the Black Sheep War Journal was done using an oooooold version of Word, which prompted me to take the plunge into Indesign. That said, I've done it. What are you having difficulties with?

I'm embarrassed to admit this because it's probably quite simple, but let's start with simply adding pages, or copying something like the sidebar text box (for rumors, for example). I'm having trouble duplicating anything.

I appreciate any assistance that you can give me.

I am just finishing a 24-page scenario for 4e using the template. I *think* I did a good job with it, but I will admit it was EXTREMELY challenging (parts moving around). What I especially didn't like is that it was nearly impossible to do it with OpenOffice/LibreOffice (I had to use my work laptop, which has a 'real' copy of Microsoft Word).

I don't know exactly how I can help, but I am willing to share my experiences. If you have any specific questions, that would be helpful.

As well, I am happy to share what I have done (even though it is still in the 0.9.0 format, pending further editing). I only hope that the Word doc doesn't re-format on another computer (as it is wont to do). Perhaps the PDF copy would help with how the document is SUPPOSED to look.

I was planning on sharing this scenario with this community, but I don't know how I should do this (if it is even allowed, which branch of the T2k4e forum, etc.) I have posted something about it in the 'General' section, but I have not received a response. If you have any suggestions (before I 'release' it), that would be helpful. Otherwise, I can certainly help with answering questions.

Thanks, Thrag.

For starters, I'm having trouble duplicating sections and/or pages. I've got nearly the entire module ready to go in a standard Word 2007 doc but the transfer to the Word Template is driving me nuts. I can fill out the sections in three pages of the template just fine but I can't figure out how to start a new page and/or duplicate sections on an existing or new page. So, ATM, I'm stuck with three pages worth of material in the template.

On an unrelated note, I admin an Every Edition T2k discussion forum that's been up and running for over a decade and new members are always welcome. It's a treasure trove of ideas, resources, and the like. Please come check us out when you get the chance.

Well, I gave up on using the template and just tried to approximate the FL "look" as much as possible in a Word document, using fonts and shading. Anyway, the product is out and for sale on DriveThruRPG.
