Zones and reach Vs. 2m Squares

Fri 26 May 2023, 12:16

I don't feel like counting boxes or 2m squares anymore. Does anyone here have experience using zones in Dragonbane? For example, would Forbidden Lands' range and zone system integrate with Dragonbane?

If someone comes up with a good hack for this, I want it too!

The lists of weapons available in the two games are very similar. Why not just use the FL ranges? You could also simplify the damage by converting FL damage rating to a number of d6. Anyway, that's what I'm planning to do.

After reading the thread again, I'm afraid it will be misunderstood. I am not only concerned with the range of the weapons and attacks, but above all with the rules of movement.

For weapons this is fairly easy.
2m = Arm's Length
4m = Near
-30m = Short
-120m = Long
>120 = Distant

When it comes to movement, then there is no way of having different movement ratings for characters since one movement is to the next zone in FbL (30m), Movement rating in FbL is 1 for humanoids and sometimes 2+ for some monsters and animals which simply means how many zones they can move with one movement. The only way to do this what I can see is to just convert it so that all humanoids will have a movement rating of 1 and monsters and animals will have a zone movement equal to their DoD movement divided by 10, rounded to the nearest whole number, so a monster/animal with a movement of 18m in DoD will have a movement rating of 2 if using zone movement and a monster/animal with a DoD movement of 14m will have a zone movement of 1.
