Opening scenario

What do you guys think makes up the "perfect" opening scenario for a new The One Ring campaign?

Do you have any examples or ideas?

The perfect opening scenario for TOR probably varies a bit based on your group's make-up of cultures and what they're interested in.

But mechanically, I like to introduce people with:

- A journey
- A council
- A skill endeavour
- A combat

To show off various things in the system, alongside various standard skill rolls.

Personally, I like using a "Seven Samurai"/"Magnificent Seven" type set-up, with the company defending a village from orcs, as you can weave the above in:

- A journey - travel to the village
- A council - convince the villagers to let you lead and follow your plan (or convince some nearby potentially allied but reluctant force to take part)
- A skill endeavour - preparing the village's defence, with better plans and rolls setting up combat advantages, traps that damage the enemies, influencing how the battle goes etc.
- A combat - where the PCs put all of the above together to drive back the orcs. Or get captured alongside everyone else in the village.
