Ranged weapons

Tue 21 Mar 2023, 19:35

Hi all,

Just had my first session as a GM and a question came up.

At the beginning of a fight, assuming nobody has already a weapon in hand, how many actions do you need to shoot? Do you need to Draw Weapon, Ready Weapon, then Shoot? Is it just the latter two? I assume thrown weapons don't need readying, right?

Assuming that you have all the weapons sheathed or slinged, the first thing you need to do is to draw the weapon, regardless if it is a bow or a throwing axe or a melee weapon. Then you can fight in melee with your throwing axe or melee weapon or you can throw your throwing axe. For the bow, you need to nock an arrow onto the bow with the ready weapon action and then you can shoot the arrow. If you want to throw another throwing axe, you have to draw another throwing axe and if you want to shoot another arrow, you have to ready the bow again.
