Dragonbane BETA v3 Adventure Book Feedback - Chapter 11 Dead Eyes Cave

Fri 17 Feb 2023, 17:19

Hi!

Please use this thread to post feedback and report any typos or errors in Chapter 11 of the new Beta PDF (dated Feb 17) of the Adventure Book for Dragonbane. Guidelines to remember:
  • Before reporting an error, please check and see if it already has been reported, and if so, don't report it again.
  • If you feedbacked on something in a previous Beta but it's not changed in the new Beta, it's not because we missed it - it's because we made a different assessment. (Typos are a different thing.)
Please report your feedback no later than February 28.
Thank you!

Afraid of Chickens: Basilisks are terrified of chickens. Their Speed decreases by one (to a minimum of 1) if such a bird can be seen within
10 meters, and they dare not attack a person who carries a hen or rooster. A player character can recall this weakness with a successful BEAST LORE roll.

If i recall right "Speed" was what it was called in the demo version of the game, should say Ferocity instead.

EDIT: Gunhild has a AGL damage bonus die, but sense she is blindfolded she can't use her bow, so it feels a bit off. Maybe she could have skills and be armed with a dagger instead of a sword?
Beware the fey!

Forgive me for being that "guy," but the Basilisk in the adventure sounds more like a Cockatrice.

The image of being a chicken/lizard and being killed by hearing a roster crow is a cockatrice. (And thus a fear of chickens in the adventure.)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cockatrice

Most pictures of a Basilisk are a reptile-like creature, either with more than four legs or as a snake.

Both critters do not like weasels, though that's not relevant to the adventure.

Though to be fair, FL would not be the first people to get the two critters confused.

Wikipedia states that basilisks and cockatrices in many instances are synonymous. According to the wikipedia-article about basilisks:

”According to some legends, basilisks can be killed by hearing the crow of a rooster or gazing at itself in a mirror.”
