First of all: if possible I favour names with dual meaning and vague associations over straight translations with a given meaning. That also goes when coming up with the Swedish names. That said, I'm myself very interested in etymology.
I'm curious on the etymologies of these ones, as the conceptual understanding of the patheon can vary quite a bit depending on what translation people make.
- Is Heme the concept related to haemoglobin (i.e. oxidation of blood, Heme relates to Rust)? Or is it an old form from the word home?
I'd say haemoglobin. Incidently, the temple Haggler's house in Ravens' Purge is built like a haemoglobin molecule group
. The name of that temple is intentionally pointing both to ”hag” and to ”haggle” as an example of my initial comment.
- Is Wail - Vene the screaming of a person or the howling of the wind?
Howling wind to me. In Swedish ”vinden ven” means ”the wind howled”.
- Is Flow - Vanna the process of something flowing, the ebb and flow of the tide, or the draping nature of things flowing over surfaces?
Flow as in the flow of things. In the Aslene expansion, Flow turns out to also be the goddess of time flowing. Vanna is an old word for water (for instance Danish ”vann” = water)
- Is Horn the protruding parts on an animal's head, a blaring sound, or the instrument 'horn'?
I'd say both. In Aslene, the dwarves living near the volcano Horn indeed have horns.
Don't remember for certain, but I think the name is derived from gods Eol (Aiolos) and Aura
