Rule question - Scenario 1

Rule question - Scenario 1

In the section Zone Cards you are told to draw a number of random Zone cards in the begining of each turn, are they implemented or just discarded ? It seems a bit harsh to implement them all, especially in a 4 player game there you would have 8 zone cards in play each turn...

Eight?
- You have 4 zone tokens in the cup.
- Every round you shuffle 4 random zone cards and one acid rain.
- for every zone token (4) to draw a zone card from this pile (5).

So it´s most likley that the game ends somewhere in the fourth round.

”At the start of each round, draw a number of random Zone cards equal to the number of players. Add one Acid Rain card to this pile, and shuffle. Draw Zone cards from this pile every time a Zone token is drawn from the cup.”

4 zone cards in a 4 player game, should you implementera the effect or not?

”As usual, draw a Zone card each time a Zone token comes up in the initiative draw.”

In a 4 player game 4 more cards. Total 8 cards in a round.

English are not my first language but i interpit it as 4+4 zone cards in each turn. To implement 8 cards in a turn are quite much and have a big effect on the game.

p.13 Zone Tokens & Zone Cards
Place a number of Zone tokens equal to the number of players into the cup at the start of each round.
p.15 Scenario 1: Throw Down
At the start of each round, draw a number of random Zone cards equal to the number of players. Add one Acid Rain card to this pile and shuffle. Draw Zone cards from this pile very time a Zone token is drawn from the cup.
So in a two player scenario 1 game with three models each, you will have six character tokens and two Zone tokens at the start of each round in the cup. The Zone deck each round is made up with two Zone cards from the Zone card deck and one Acid Rain card (so technically three in total). Whenever a Zone token is drawn from the cup, you draw a Zone card from those three cards. At the end of the round (all tokens in the cup have been drawn), you start a new round by drawing two random Zone cards and adding an Acid Rain card (the Acid Rain cards from previous rounds remain in play if they have been drawn).

So each round there will be two Zone cards drawn and the game will most likely end in round, but not always.

I would say:
4 zone tokens from 4+1 zone cards

don´t mix them up. Number Zone Tokens are defined on page 13 bottom right and the special drawing pile of Zone Cards for this scenario is defined on page 15 upper left.

Place a number of Zone tokens equal to the
number of players into the cup at the start of each
round.

At the start of each round,
draw a number of random Zone cards equal to the
number of players. Add one Acid Rain card to this
pile, and shuffle. Draw Zone cards from this pile
every time a Zone token is drawn from the cup.

P.S.: Fenhorn was faster. :D

Got it, missed thatvthe 4 cards and a acid rain card made a new draw deck för the turn.

Thanks for sorting it out for me

Yes indeed. We could edit the text to clarify that the cards drawn at the beginning of each round are not implemented, but instead become the draw pile for the round.

Not necessarily ending in the forth round if I understand correctly - a round ends when all models have activated even if there are Zone tokens left in the bag (p5 Ending the Round)

Yes, in this example 4 zone tokens in the bag.

# of Zone cards: 4 (one for each player) + 1 trigger card.

There will be between no or all zone cards left when the round ends (all players have been activated and made their actions).

There is a high probabilty that Scenario 1 will last for more than four rounds; acid rain/trigger might not be pulled every round.

Since you shuffle all the non-trigger zone cards every round and randomize the new round’s deck (in this case four new cards + one trigger) , the zone card SKYQUAKE might end a round before all models have activated.

… and also note: a round can never start with a zone card (token is placed back in the cup/bag), nor can two zone events occur in a row (again, place the token back in the cup/bag).
