Helicopters & other aircraft?

Sun 03 Jul 2022, 00:09

I was wondering if anyone had put out any FLW content for aircraft at all? I understand that this might not be necessarily in keeping with the original game scope, but was just curious to see if anyone had introduced them to their games?

Thanks,

There's some helicopter/aircraft rules in the Road to Armageddon gear book supplement. It's a mite pricey to buy solely for those, but I'd highly recommend it overall (provided you can stand the author bitching about the 4th edition ruleset every five minutes).

SPOILERS INBOUND!!!!!!
(And no spoiler tags to hide them)

The Poland module series includes aircraft. But they were written for a less resource constrained version of T2k. We'll see if FL includes them when they adapt these modules.

Yeah, I see that now, thanks... There is a Nautical/Aviation book for v2.2 that I have seen on DriveThruRPG. Might invest in that to see how I can use that.

Thanks for the info.
I've got a few ideas for a campaign/background I can work on.

Now I'm curious what you need the aircraft for. Maybe for flying around your mercenary force a la "The Expendables" franchise?

LOL.

I've got a few ideas. One is to stick closer to the T2K background and add a little more air power.

The other is to go full-on Alien Invasion, or at least, the aftermath of one. Set in the late 90's and chronicling the efforts to recover and rebuild after the fact. Aliens may or may not actually feature, but I wanted to create a setting that didn't have a (close to) real life conflict as the background to the game.

You could use the old trope of having a fictitious country. The movie "The Wild Geese" for example was about a mercenary operation in a fictitious African state called "Zembala". Likewise the movie "The Dogs of War" was about a mercenary operation in a fictitious African country called "Zangaro". Similarly the computer game "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" was set in a fictitious country called "Urzikstan".

Silverfoxdmt73,

I wouldn't particularly recommend the Nautical/Aviation sourcebook - it was the worst GDW Twilight:2000 module produced in my opinion. Dodgy artwork, Dodgy statistics for the aircraft included, and the aircraft listed in the module from memory included some types that were not sensible for T2k and dubious even for Merc:2000, while more obvious types that were more appropriate for T2k were omitted.
