Shardmaiden Shards - ruby or emerald?

Tue 22 Feb 2022, 18:47

Page 51 of GM Guide

"They carry an emerald shard from the Shardmaiden fused into their foreheads"...

Why emerald? Should it be ruby?

Or was the original heart ruby "tainted" with her sorrow somewhat like Viridia’s was tainted by evil rage?

This is one of those very vague bits of lore that is lacking definitive answers. It's very possible the shards of the shard maiden are just a generic gem stone (in this case an emerald) that they have placed religious significance on. They now believe it to be a shard of her heart stone, but it's maybe (probably?) not.

This is an error of which I'm responsible it seems, since I find it already in my draft. The shards should be rubies of course. Sorry for that!
This said, one would start to wonder why the shards were indeed emeralds, so feel free to play it out that way …

(FYI I have plans for the Shardmaiden people in the Alderland expansion)

Thank you Brior for the response.

I could certainly run with them being tainted by her sorrow or other ideas.

Exciting news about Shardmaiden folks. And first I've heard of that supplement! Exciting news!
