Combat using Foundry VTT

Mon 13 Dec 2021, 23:07

I'm very frustrated trying to figure out how to use Foundry to run this game. I've set up a practice scene to figure out how to do combat. I can have a NPC fire, but when I try to use a Player Character (that Iam also running from a different computer) every time I try to attack with the m16A2 I get a message to please insert a magazine into the weapon. I can't figure out how to do that. I try dragging and dropping, nothing happens. There is no other apparent way to do this and no help anywhere on how to do anything. Any help? I've asked on Discord, no help there for Twilight 2000.

On the character, click edit weapon (small icon to the right on the weapon stat row), there you will find a tab where you can select mag. This is how you do now. I don't remember if there will be a change when it is updated.

Thanks much. I thought I tried that earlier and it came up blank, but this time it listed the magazines the character was carrying. maybe I hadn't had them properly being carried. But now it works.

Does the program account ammunition usage?

Also, is there any Twilight 2000 specific Foundry VTT documentation anywhere? I'm so far learning by trial and error, and it can get pretty frustrating at times.

For the PC, yes, the module will decrease ammo when you shoot. For NPC, there is an option (I have forgotten where) that you can select so the NPC uses the same rules as the PCs. If not checked, it is supposed to use the simple NPC rule when it comes to ammo but this is bugged out (It may be fixed in the next update).

I don't know if there is a documentation for it. I know that there is a VTT section on the Year Zero World discord, perhaps someone over there may be able to answer questions if no one on Foundry VTT discord or here can.

Thanks again. Now that I can load a rifle, I've been able to see how the system works and how ammunition tracks. It is pretty cool!

The setting for NPCs to track ammunition like PCs, is Configure Game Settings under the System Settings tab.

Since Foundry makes it trivial to track these details, I honestly have never seen any reason NOT to realistically track ammo for all NPCs.

Note that on the same edit weapon page there is an option to "generate weapon ammo" -- this is handy to quickly assign a weapon and then however many magazines/reloads you want, and I believe it also loads one into the weapon at the same time.

Agree, I switched over to tracking NPC ammo this way.

Thanks, this is a good thing.
