Deluxe Boxed Set (Metal Tin) - Design Question

Wed 28 Oct 2020, 21:20

On the Kickstarter page, under the initial image of the metal box for the Deluxe Boxed Set, it said "Metal Box Design (Work in Progress)". What, if any, other options are you all looking at instead of that original metal box shown on the KS page? Personally, I'm hoping that you all change the design from that box, as I'd like the option of being able to stand my Deluxe Boxed Set up in a shelf without it having to lean and scratching up the shelf (as the design shown would do). Thanks.

That picture is (fortunately) just a placeholder.

No-one outside Fria Ligan — or just Tomas, AFAIK — knows in which direction the metal tin design is headed. During the Kickstarter campaign, many ideas were thrown around by backers, including designing the tin to emulate ammo belt boxes, with a hinged lid, handles, or whatnot, but FL never commented on it, as far as I recall.
Backer comments did prompt FL to add the plastic insert, which is positive of course, but beyond that, no-one knows.

Another interesting but unknown factor is whether the tin only will be just large enough to contain the exact same content as the standard cardboard box, or if it will have space also for add-ons — most particularly the GM Screen, but also the weapons cards and the Black Madonna book.
(I personally might feel that since this is a Kickstarter exclusive, and it ought ot be safe to assume that the vast majority of those who have backed for it also are getting at least the GM Screen, it would make very little sense not to have space for these inside the tin ... but as I say: nobody knows.)

Bearing in mind that backers are paying over USD $30 for it, it should be reasonable to expect something rather more functional — and, to be blunt, cooler — than the glorified cookie jar of the placeholder pictures, with the multitude of concerns pertaining to it that both the OP and Kickstarter backers have highlighted.

However, I see no reason to assume other than that Fria Ligan has no intention of letting us down on this issue. They have everything to gain and nothing to lose from making the limited metal box really shine in every way they can.

Let's just say, hopes are high ... but they currently exist in a vacuum.

You know it's going to be Eastern Bloc sp-ammo can. Key, non-reclosable, never want to open it, have to buy another set to actually play.....
