Learning a New Talent : Teacher

Tue 14 Jul 2020, 06:22

Hey guys,
I have a NOOB question. The PHB talks about increasing a PCs Skill or Talent, and that one way to do this is to have a teacher. Can a Teacher be another PC with the skill or talent in question ? Or does it have to be an NPC in a village etc who will act as a teacher. At the moment, I have two fighters in the party and they are teaching eachother different skills and talents. Is that Meta Gaming ? I cant find any clarification in the forum or in the PHB. Your input would be much appreciated.
Thank You.

I would say it is absolutely fine for one PC to teach another PC.

Me too. I figure there aren't any difference between what a fellow adventurer could teach you, compared to another NPC in a village. After all, we're not talking about dedicated schools or universities here. Not in my campaign at least. As long as they are more proficient to start with, meaning the teacher has to have the talent/skill at a level at least one step higher, I don't see a problem with this.
