Flowers of Algorob

Sun 16 Aug 2026, 16:22

The opening of the adventure...

"... Najjar used his contacts in the guild to gain access to the archive, where he located the stone tablet and ‘borrowed’ it for his research. Together with Boutaleb, he managed to decipher the tablet and realized that there was a hitherto undiscovered Vault buried somewhere within Ship City itself. The location appeared to be beneath the City of the Dead, where the bodies of the dead are buried and recycled by the Coriolite cult Wardens of the Well."

How did they discover this from the tablet when the PCs are expected to take the tablet to the obelisk to learn the location?

Thanks!

My players never considered this.

Arguably, they didn't know the location but they did know that the tablet came from near the Obelisk and it had a glyph on it that indicated a builder vault. They were still poking around to try and find out where.

Perhaps you could explain this by:

1) They'd spent a lot of time cross referencing the old excavation records and cross referencing the tablet and other sources and had managed to get an approximation of the location. Kind of trying to work it backwards mathematically.

2) Perhaps they managed to get the Obelisk - either bribing or distracting the Purple Guard somehow.

3) Perhaps they had also found some material - a journal or other information that related to Wardens of the Well finding the structure. This could have been recovered during the murder and perhaps the assassin didn't realise the importance of other information that Najjar had.

I think I'd have used option 3.
