New GM some feedback and questions

Sun 03 May 2026, 09:20

Firstvgame session down.
Loved it.

As a group we were all dissatisfied with initiative draw, and agreed to redraw every round. Rolling CUF for the OpFor as a group for suppression is too nasty, will roll in buddy teams.
Pesky cover keeps blocking awesome shots, so called shots have become the new norm.

When a vehicle is penetrated and the driver takes an injury, do they get the benefit of the armor of the vehicle? I assumed so.

There should be a mechanic to allow rerolling the hit location die.

We are playing 25mm scale on a 6” grid with terrain and 1/64 and 1/73 diecast models

Id like to see some common sense rules to arbitrate calling for surrenders and disarms of outgunned and outnumbered opponenets.

Timing of Suppression, the dive for cover and loss of actions occurs immediately yes.? And can be triggered multiple times per round, yes?

Do 1s on action or ammo dice cause damage only on a pushed task?

Yes. If an M72A3 Law (damage 6, armor -1, blast C) is fired upon a Bradley M2 and hit it on its side (armor 4) with no extra successes the 3 damage will penetrate and will hit something inside. On top of that since the weapon penetrated the vehicle, there will also be a C blast explosion inside.

You have called shots.

When it comes to CUF rolls you only need to roll for it once in the same situation. So no chain reactions to characters that has already roll for CUF in that situation. That said, a character can of course be fired upon several times during a round and the character will suffer the effect of that each time.

1s come into effect after a rolled is pushed. However, there is a simplified NPC rule (page 67) that lets NPCs be affected by a weapon jam (1s on the ammo dice) even on a non-pushed roll (the referee rarely pushes rolls for NPCs).

Urban Ops pg 16 (and repleated esssentially on pg 19) has blast damage step up 1 for being enclosed, so I would assume that also now applies to vehicle internal explosions (caves/other restricted spaces like rooms)?

pg 16 "EXPLOSIONS: In an indoor hex, the power of an explosion is compressed, and therefore the blast power is increased one step (to a maximum of A). However, an indoor blast does not continue beyond the detonation hex. Note that firing an explosive weapon at a target in your own hex is not advisable, except for breaching (as the blast will then affect the adjacent hex instead)."

I see no reason why that would apply to vehicles (call it blast attenuation from penetrating the armor), but other room-like things, sure.
