Hey is strike meant to replace the need for using a weapon? Does it basically circumvent the Slugfest rule for using weapons in combat? I was curious after looking at the profiles for Battle Beast and War Woman where the Strike descriptions mention their use of weapons, and based on their slugfest damage.
Yes, in general, heroes won't use conventional weapons / gear if they want to really focus on super-powered expressions of slugfest combat, shooting, or defense. STRIKE, BLAST, and PROTECTION (or any other Defense power) are there for those respectively.
STRIKE represents Battle Beast's ability to inflict massive damage whether he's fighting with his maces, Draskula, the Forever Blade, or his fangs and claws, as he's seen doing in the comics.
All powers produce effects that can and should be described to best capture the character's concept, so if a hero uses firearms, blades, and wears special body armor, they would select BLAST, STRIKE, and PROTECTION to represent that.
