Blocking and Slugfest

Sat 14 Mar 2026, 00:33

Just wondering if blocking counts as Slugfest for the purposes of powers like Strike, which increase Slugfest Damage, Talents like Aggressive, which add extra dice for attack powers (like Strike), or any other effects that add dice to Slugfest rolls. Thanks!

My interpretation: probably yes. p. 89 says about Blocking in the Counterattack paragraph: 'If you roll more 6s than the attacker when blocking, you can counterattack. This counts as a normal slugfest attack which hits automatically with the 6s beyond what you needed to eliminate all of the attacker’s 6s.'
So, if you successfully Counterattack, it is a normal slugfest attack, deals slugfest damage, and so I think any powers or abilities that are triggered by slugfest attacks should trigger.

Now, Agressive is a little interesting, I'm not 100% sure of that one. The roll that you make is to block the slugfest attack against you, which in itself does not really use an Attack power. If you roll more 6s than the attacker, some Attack powers might be triggered (such as Strike), but it is not sure that will come into play. Let's say, the original attacker rolls three 6s. You roll and get one 6. Would you get the two extra dice to this roll? You would not be able to hit back and use strike, 'just' block. Again, this one I can see both ways.
