Dreamscape Drug Homebrew

This is a part of another major thing I'm working on. I just had a sudden burst of attention tonight and needed to write it all out.

Dreamscape

On Nereides, there is a legal psychedelic mushroom that grows on Avalon called the Dreamscape Mushroom. This grey mushroom is slender with a small cap and is distinguished by the blue dots on the cap. When dried and then consumed, this mushroom causes intense hallucinations. Some may hallucinate themselves being billionaires, some dream of having a harem, others may hallucinate themselves as a fantasy creature like a dragon. The hallucination varies from person to person. What is constant is that the hallucination is always a paradise to the user.
The average trip usually lasts about fifteen minutes, but to the user, the hallucination can feel like days, weeks, and even months. While the mushroom does not have any addictive chemical properties, the paradise achieved by this drug is addictive on its own. Some will try living from hit to hit to remain in their personal heaven. Due to this, people who die while using this drug, usually die from dehydration as they forget to drink water.

Due to its nature, many pharmaceutical companies try to study this mushroom to find new ways to treat depression and other mental illnesses. Weyland-Yutani is also looking into ways of using the mushroom to improve cryo sleep for long term space travel. There are several labs on Nereides that cultivate this mushroom to ensure they have a steady supply and to ensure that this mushroom doesn’t accidentally go extinct. Civilians of Avalon also cultivate these mushrooms for entertainment.

Cost: $50 (per shroom)
Effect: Hallucination, -3 Stress, Psychologically Addictive

Hallucination: The length of the hallucination will last one Turn per shroom consumed. The user will hallucinate a personal paradise and will be compelled to indulge in their personal fantasy. During this time, they will be collapsed on the ground like they are sleeping. Their eyes will display signs of REM sleep. Once the drug wears off, the individual will wake up but will be confused. All actions during this state of confusion will take a -3 Modification in the first Turn after waking up. The Modification increases by 1 for every Turn afterwards until the user is back to normal.

Psychologically Addictive: When this mushroom is used, the player will need to make a roll using Wits and Stamina together. This combination roll suffers an additional decrease of -1 Modification for every usage within one week of each other. Failing the roll results in the player becoming psychologically addicted to the mushroom. They will be compelled to get another dose and will suffer a -1 Modification to all Wits-based rolls. This addiction will last until they have avoided using this mushroom for one week. After this time, the compulsion will end, and their Wits return to normal.

GM Note: Players cannot use these mushrooms as a sort of in-game pause to allow their characters to perform logical activities such as problem solving. They will lose control of themselves and indulge in the fantasy.
