Using cinematic scenarios as "character creation" for campaign play?

Wed 04 Sep 2019, 18:23

I was thinking it might be cool to use cinematic scenarios as an alternate form of character creation. Basically, the players play through a cinematic scenario and if their character lives they have the option of bringing them into the main campaign. It'd be an interesting way, I think, to make a sort of Ripley-esque character. IE, a person who has encountered the Xenomorphs and survived and has a personal reason to deal with them again.

I like it.  It follows the flow set forth by the movies.

I wonder if the campaign character will have Backgrounds.  Xeno Survivor / Xeno Encounter sounds like plausible Backgrounds.  Other Backgrounds:  Colonist; Terraformer; Space Jockey?

I don't remember backgrounds as such in Year Zero so probably not.
