But since "that we know of" covers an infinite amount of information its also pointless.
Not true. We do not know if the host species cause larger change then a slight difference in physical appearance.
I'd even go so far as to say that since we've seen other types of hybrid do things we've never seen the human/xeno-hybrid do, it makes more sense to assume the host animal has a much greater impact on physiology than mere appearance.
Injecting multiple live fetuses straight into the host body, rather than the egglaying/two stage cycle could very well be a trait of the predator speieces.
If it was a trait of the xeno-species, we should have seen it used a lot more as it would be much more efficent than the whole egg laying stage for a continous colonization, while egg laying would only make sense when approaching a dormant state.

The direct embryo implantation is good for mass production in a short amount of time but places the queen into direct danger.

The queen being "dormant" on the egg chamber and producing eggs allows the hive to produce slower but safer while creating many layers of protection for the sole source of reproduction.

Again, crest, bosses the others around, problem solving smart, fleshy bits on chest, produces embryos. It's a queen.

https://avp.fandom.com/wiki/Predalien_(Earth)
  • The Predalien is said to be a young Queen according to the directors, and they have stated that it reproduces the way it does before it matures further and becomes immobile with an ovipositor.[10][11][12]
"Basically the Predalien's kind of a baby queen-there's a phase in between warrior alien and full-blown queen...they do this thing with embryo implantation.. the idea with that was; how does a baby queen quickly form her own little mini-drone army to get the hive built before she evolves into the final state where she can't completely defend herself?"--Colin Strause, "AvP-R: Preparing for War: Development and Production" featurette, from the Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem Region 1 Extreme Unrated Set DVD
Predalien wreaks havoc and causes a different Predator ship - it's actually a Predator scout ship in this case - to crash on Earth. You see a bunch of Predators get whacked at the beginning." His brother continued, saying, "The Predalien wants to hunt and reproduce. She's got a big queen head. The main concept is that a Predalien should still be primarily Alien [with] very strong Alien features but with Predator mandibles and Predator dreadlocks. It walks a little more upright than a normal Alien does, but it also has the tail. It uses that tail quite a bit, and it's got a much bigger tail than a normal Alien."
According to the directors. Premature queen.

So how many xenomorphs on LV-426? Presuming a queen was not in the derelict ship and a new queen was made from the colonists. Many of the colonist could have been used to produce 3-5 aliens per host body. 300 is a more likely number of drones that existed.

According to the lore, a queen can form whenever a hive has no queen and one random alien will just go thru metamorphosis and be a queen then.
According to alien 1 and alien isolation  - no queen is required and somehow biomass is formed into some form of egg.
I don't need a fancy signature quote from some dude, everything i say is pure gold! ~ myself

This is one of the things thats just iffy and inconsistent.

If true that a drone/warrior would become a queen then why wasnt the drone from alien doing it? It was in space away from all the other eggs as long as the pred alien from avp r. If you dont need a special embryo then whats with the queen face hugger and ripley in alien 3?

In the directors cut of alien you can see Dalas cocooned on the wall in a biomass that looks like an egg. Is that just weird Geiger designs? Likely. Or was Dalas being mutated into a face hugger? Doesnt make any sense with any other material.

Again, its inconsistent. But the most regularly accepted lore is that a drone will molt into a queen. Generally the oldest drone. Its the one i run with. But again, what the hell is going on in alien 1 and 3 then? Probably the drone just has a instinct to cocoon victims for reproduction and the cocooning was stylized. Presumably if given the chance it would become a premature queen and Dalas would have been host to 3-5 embryos.

It was transforming him into an egg.

How does that make any sense with ANY of the other alien movies?
