Cover Clarification

My players and I are a little unclear whether taking cover is a reaction, or something that needs to be undertaken on your turn.

In one of the text boxes in the combat section, whether it mentions that some actions fall out of initiative order, it lists taking cover as a reaction; in the cover section itself, however, it mentions that it needs to occur BEFORE someone begins shooting, and can't be done reactively, like blocking.

What is everyone else's interpretation of this?

Seek Cover is technically just a move action where you move behind a cover within the same zone. So if you move (Run) into a zone (a room for example), you are considered in that room, not engaged to any enemy and not behind any cover, you have to spend another action (Seek Cover) if you want to be behind some cove in that room.

I understand that. I was more curious whether taking cover is something that can be done as a reaction (like blocking is done for close combat), or whether it has to have been done on your initiative.

In the text box on reactions, it mentions seeking cover as being a reaction. However, in the cover section itself, it says that "unlike blocking" you need to have taken cover before someone starts shooting (suggesting you have to have taken cover before they use ranged combat, on your own initiative count).

Ah, now I see it. That is a contradiction. I guess that the rule for taking cover is the right one as this is how cover works in their other games (but who knows). I have reported it in.

That was my thinking and interpretation. Hopefully they can reword to make it a little clearer. Loving the game so far.
