Rotating the character sheets in the PDF or exporting as separate files

Thu 30 May 2019, 07:08

The character sheets are in landscape format, while the book is portrait. This is obvious, but more obvious and inconvenient is when reading on tablet or even screen with fit-width option is turned on. Image The different page sizes in the file cause the whole book to not spread between screen edges and on tablet devices such as iPad this results in super annoying experience when scrolling - the page is moved not only vertically but also horizontally if you are not precise.

In general, I remove/rotate the problematic pages with Adobe Acrobat, but the pdf is locked. From design perspective rotating the sheets will look not so great, removing them - not good idea at all, redesigning in portrait - I have no idea if you have such version.

The Coriolis Effect made some form-fillable sheets that maybe easier to deal with printing off:

Actually the issue is the landscape orientation of one sheet in the file screws the fit-width setting for every portrait oriented page.
But I was not aware of this page, thanks for the hint :)

I haven’t tried the release version. But the pre-release I had which I made the formfillable sheets from alphas postscript bug in two of the pages which had the effect of locking the whole PDF. I don’t have time to look at the release version, but I assume those bugs might still exist. The locking might not be intentional.

The PDF is secured with password protection by DriveThruRPG, so it is quite intentional. Probably the publisher is demanding this as other PDFs are not like that.
I don't see a way to attach a files here, so I can't show the annoyance from the iPad.

The gray bars that result of fix-width view when you have portrait and landscape pages in a file. When I zoom the portrait oriented page to be on full screen (because I use Continuous scrolling type), this results in inconvenient horizontal scrolling if you are not careful :)

Here is the image, as I can't attach .jpg file here
