I think two sets are enough for most situations, but a second set of base dice are nice to have.

I go nuts for dice.  I have 8 sets of Forbidden Lands dice, and I preordered 9 sets of the new MYZ dice that are supposed to release next month.  I usually make sure to have enough for me to have a set as GM, and for each player to have enough dice that they won't have to borrow any.

All this means that while the bundles should have plenty of dice for a community pool, I will prolly buy at least one more set just for my personal use as a GM.

I bought an additional 10+10 dice (besides the 10+10) already included in the bundle. My thought is to have 10+10 on each side of the table. I am a dice junkie so I could probably go for more, but this sounds like enough. I do guess that the 10+10 dice included in a bundle is enough for most cases.

I like to have dice for every player.
I see you recommend 2 sets (10+10) for the table. 1 set (10+10) per player is too much?

I've never played MY0 or TftL. So, I don't know how much it is used actually.

Skill rolls are made by adding your attribute (1-5) and skill levels (0-5). This can also sometime be modified by gear and sometimes other stuff. So most of the rolls are made with just up to 10 base dice, on rare occasions a couple of more than that.

Number of dice suggested

Thu 06 Jun 2019, 20:55

Hi all,

Very much excited to see ALIEN RPG later this year. Congrats Fria Ligan!

I have not yet set up my preorder edition; just wondering in regards of the number of custom dice our group will need to play. The group consist of five players and myself as the Game Master. I'll most likely pre order the standard bundle, which comes with 10 base dice and 10 stress dice. Would you recommend ordering a second set of these two? Or, the dice from the bundle will be enough?

Thanks!

I was going to make my group share dice. From what I can read of the rules there are only a few occasions when people need to roll against one another. I would say one set could work but having two would probably be ideal. I also have been collecting dice for years so I have tons of d6 of various colors that I'm going to use as well. If everyone wants their own set then I guess it can't hurt to have multiples.

One set of dice is usually enough, if you all like to share. It happens that you will need some more base dice but not that often.

edit: one set of each I mean (10 base and 10 stress).

It is quite easy to use standard D6, although the game comes with custom dice they are not near as custom as some dice sets for other games. Only the six on the base set is replaced with a symbol, and the six and one on the stress dice. So long as you use dice of different colours for the base and stress dice it should be no problem to use standard D6s,
