I wrote a German summary of the interview and translated back would be something like this:

Setting
·         They are working for six months on the rules and setting. Fria Ligan also has the permission to make the events and maps canonical.
·         Even from works, like the original script of William Gibson and other books.
·         different political power blocs
·         More dangers than just xenomorphs
·         no predators!

The system distinguishes between Cinematic OneShots and a campaign mode.
Cinematics
·         Pregen characters
·         Also with PvP elements
·         Division into 3 acts
·         Characters get different agendas per act
Campaign mode
·         Free Sandboxing
·         3 campaign style: space truckers, marines, colonists
·         8 archetypes inspired by the movies (Newt-, Burke-, Ripley-like characters possible)
·         Year 2183 / Alien 1-3
Hybrid Form
·         One-Shots, which influence further Oneshots
·         Plotpoint-like (IF X THEN A ELSE THEN B)
·         usually not the same characters

New Stress Mechanics

·         central push mechanic
·         Pushing = generates stress dice, but also by auto fire, sight of horrific beings or panic of others (chain reaction)
·         Stress dice = more focus and more success, but chance of panic
·         Panic table contains reactions from the movies, such as freeze or berserk

New stealth mechanics to simulate the avoidance of an encounter and the sneaking over "the ship". Feeling of paranoia as focus.

Publication

·         no Kickstarter, only preorder:
·         When to preorder: Not far future
·         Preorder provides instant access to the 160-pages-Quickstarter
·         Full Release: November
·         Translations possible and expected
All of that looks right, except the development time - we have been working on the game for over a year.

Next bits of information from the Plot Point Podcast Interview with Tomas:
  • Monsters will use attack-tables like in Forbidden Lands
  • there will be special dice and a GM-screen (obvious, but good to know)
  • further modules will contain cinematic multi-shots or focus on campaign-concepts (like these group-concepts)
  • new modules should be released on a regular basis

The Gear Breaking mechanic is one that I hope is a part of the space truckers setting. Something breaks on a long haul, it needs to be jury rigged or something else has to be found/modified for the job.

If not, it's yet another system I'd house rule that into.
To me, that is one of the most revolutionary mechanic to any crunch I've read. I've played with malfunction on 99-00% rolls and similar ilk, but the gear damage and breage in a post-apocalyptic setting is perfect.

(Porting the MYZ mechanics to play Twilight: 2000 was no less forgiving & lethal than the original system, but far quicker.)

Tomas states, that 1 will be negative on stress dice, so I guess that these mechanic will be used on most die-types like in MYZ or FL. And therefore a gear degeneration would be logical. And I really like this mechanic, too, especially as it only triggers when pushing. So you sometimes have the choice to be successful, but you know that your used gear will break for sure in trying so.

All sounds good! Would like to see an ‘explorer’ group concept as well, but the colonists/marines setup will probably cover that area. Mapping (generating) star sectors and checking out planetery anomalies outside of the core worlds, mmmm. Pre-order soon!
