Dodge & parry in a missed attack

Tue 05 May 2020, 17:07

Ok so in the Rulebook it says that a player needs to declare whether they will dodge or parry before their enemies attack roll. If the attack roll misses does the player still loose their fast action for the round?

If the attack is a miss would the defender still have to roll for the dodge or parry or would they just lose the action? Would there be a benefit in rolling aside from the option to push the roll?

No he doesn't have to roll. Also you are only allowed to push a roll if additional successes will increase the effect of the roll in some way.

Do you declare if you are dropping to the ground or staying on your feet for a dodge at the roll, or at the dodge declaration?

Combat goes like this:
* Attacker declares his attack.
* Defender declares his defense.
* Attacker rolls and pushes if he wants to.
* Defender rolls and pushes if he wants to.
* Damage, armour, injury, etc.

Think of it like the scene in Hot Fuzz where the cops are running away from the building they think is about to explode (in usual cop action movie style) and leap!!!

Right into a hedge with no explosion behind them.
