Import rules from Coriolis

Thu 29 Aug 2019, 19:54

Hi all,
I played Coriolis and I prefer two rule mechanics:
- the Action systems, with action points
- the absence of rule of 1 in the dice rolls.

If I use Coriolis methods for my FBL campaign (Changing correlated rules),
do you think the game can be affected negatively?

In Coriolis a lot of the things that are defined as actions (choices you make before the roll) in Forbidden Lands, are listed instead as bonus effects you pay for with extra successes after the roll. Apart from that, renaming some FL slow actions as “normal” (2 ap) should not change the game too much, but personally the action point economy of Coriolis feels a tiny bit clunky to me.

I am not sure exactly what you mean by “rule of 1”  but if you mean “Ones wear you down”, I think getting rid of this philosophy would ruin the game.

Perhaps the standard YZE action system flows better. But I'll try the Coriolis variant in a FBL campaign.

I haven't played FBL yet. I'm waiting for boxed set.
I played Coriolis and I have to say that the dice rolls run fast.

If you haven't played Forbidden Lands yet, why not try it as RAW and see how it works at the table before house ruling?
