Re: Forbidden Lands Companion App

Thanks for the feedback guys, I appreciate it :)
@imolit I've been trying to use the editor to create a new character https://eddie-dunn.gitlab.io/forbidden-lands/. during the process of adding equipment if you touch the gear dice modifier it drops you back to fresh character sheet. When I saved the character sheet it drops me back to the unmodified save.

UNLESS you hit the modifier first, then it allows you to create the item and it works correctly.

A new version with character templates has been released :)

Release notes:
1. Added the ability to generate characters from templates (thanks for the help, Ayathor!)
2. Fixed caching issues that made app updates unreliable
3. Users will now be prompted to load a new version of the app if an update is available
4. Source code released as open source under GPLv3: https://gitlab.com/eddie-dunn/forbidden-lands
5. Various UI/UX fixes

@faun I think I've fixed the bug, please test and get back to me if it still doesn't work for you.

This looks fantastic. I really like the option to create a character from a template but could you add an option to choose an age, to add more formative events to grow the character?

Sure, that's a great suggestion and shouldn't be very difficult implement.

Great work, I tested and the item creator worked well without throwing you out.

Is there a character limit for the notes feature?

Is there a way you could have a Print CSS that will change the format so some elements don't print, and other elements are optimized for print. I usually send it to a PDF so that I can share it with the Player (as a Pregen) or as a Character (after a game to the GM) or just so I can put it into a binder for an adventure.

Thanks!

I haven't put an explicit limit on the notes, but I wouldn't recommend adding megabytes of text data inside as that will affect the app performance negatively.

A print CSS is a great idea! What would you like to see changed when attempting to print the document?

A new release is out!

Features
  • Multiplayer added!
  • Clicking a skill on an active character will open a dice rolling modal pre-populated with the correct number of dice for attribute, skill and equipped gear.
  • Added a filterable list of item templates when adding new gear, which should make adding a new item much easier
  • Character sheets should look better when printed
  • Import/Export will now backup all stored data (e.g., options, stored image links etc, not only saved characters)
  • Added an app bar that will display the title of the currently opened view, and convenient shortcuts
  • Moved app links and options to a drawer in the app bar
  • Closing a character sheet will reset any unsaved changes
  • Multitude of various UI & UX improvements and some bug fixes

I would love to hear some feedback, and if you run into issues or bugs, don't hesitate to contact me so that I can fix them asap.
