Re: What have you created for Forbidden Lands?

Fri 29 Mar 2019, 18:13

In the event that someone interested hasn't seen it yet, I thought I'd mention that I created an online roller for Forbidden Lands.

You can use it on any modern browser here: https://jkottler.github.io/fbl-roller/

The current interface is not exactly what I was hoping for, but with the game released and the dice already out of stock, I thought the community would be better served by a functional roller now than by a prettier one that came out later.

Feedback, pull requests, etc, are all welcome.

Planned improvements include:
  • Better interface for phones and other small devices
  • "Dwarf" mode for multiple pushes
  • Improved die face appearance

I helped a bit with creating the translation option for the Roll20 character sheet.

Might create a Swedish translation for it based on the names given on Svärdet's Sång's character sheet. I haven't played it in Swedish but am a native speaker, so doubt I'll make any fatal mistakes...
Edit: could add german translations as well based on Deep_Impact's fan translation

I made this critical injuries table for non-typical critical injuries. It is intended to be used when someone is broken in strength by poison, disease, fire, magic or acid etc. Feedback is appreciated!

Really nice to see an elaborate table for this :)
I rather think all of them should be either deadly or permanent though, as the original non-typical damage suggests death is imminent.

Thanks!
I agree overall, but in my experience that is not how non-typical damage usually plays out. The usual way a player character dies is from rolling 65+ on a critical injury. In most of cases there is more than one other character present who will be able to roll for healing, which given multiple tries will succeed in an overwhelming number of cases. If there is a path of the hymn minstrel or a path of healing druid present then there is about a 0% chance of actually getting any bad effects whatsoever. That is why I created the table in the first place, to make magic and poison into something a player character can't just shrug off easily. I designed the table to have about the same structure as the other tables. I think it is slightly worse for the player character than the others though, since you die on a 64+ instead of 65+ and the injuries on average give larger penalties and have longer healing time.

I see, that's a good point actually.
In my group they have all taken the lucky talent to at least lvl2, and one even has it on lvl3 where he can just pick something from the table. So when I have included something with non-typical damage it has been because I really wanted them to feel the danger.

Hi there! I created a Treasures and Finds generator with Google Sheets,
This is awesome. Now I want to pull it apart and add more items beyond the tables from the GM guide. I love the simple way you roll the dice and take the result into each item. Makes it easy to copy the values into a Doc before the adventure or so I can do it during the mission on my phone and not have to appear to be using the tables.

I've just finished this based on the Demon Generator previously posted.

It needs some tidying up as some of the attack option descriptions don't quite work and due to prerequisites it can run out of attack options quickey but it produces a good basis for a new creature. I will do some additional work on it as time allows.

Anyway, have a play and let me know what you think -  https://perchance.org/fl-monster-generator
