So im gonna be boring again, but now you launched a second kickstarter before releasing all the stretchgoals/the ogl for Forbidden lands. For me that kind of bums me out from aiming towards new stretchgoals in this new kickstarter. You have said soon for a long time now, is there a more precise date/deadline you can give us for the OGL?

Even if you are unable to give a timeline for the OGL, could you let us know if you're still working on it and intending to release it? The OGL was the main reason I backed the kickstarter, and I am starting to get worried that it may never come.

Where is this second kickstarter? I presume you mean the one for Cthulhu as I don't see anything related to Forbidden Lands in their Kickstarter profile https://www.kickstarter.com/profile/1192053011/created

I asked Fria Ligan via email about the OGL a few weeks ago, and they wrote back saying they are nearly done writing it and very close to releasing it. There have been delays which is why they haven't given us a release date yet, but it's close.

On the basis that this forms legal permission for what is and isn't allowed under the licence, I can imagine that they have to consult with quite a few third parties to ensure it's very clear about what is allowed.

They've already said that setting information won't be allowed from any of their games, for example. Many of us are wondering exactly what this means.

Anyway, don't despair, it's being actively worked on, and the reason for the delays is likely that they have had to do revisions that require approvals from the various setting IP holders.

The OGL is indeed in the works. We can't really go into the reasons for the delay at this point unfortunately, but rest assured it is coming. :)

I am sad we wont get as much free FBL content, but I am excited for content developers to be able to get paid for their projects.

Not everyone will charge for their content!

For example, I'm hoping to a Quickstart of Nordsaga (my alternate setting for FBL) for free close to the marketplace launch. If it is popular enough, I might run a Kickstarter to fund artwork for a full book, but I will still give the full book PDF away for free (well, PWYW), and will only charge for the physical books.

This is what Ironsworn does, and I think it's a great business model for little one-person indie publishers like me.
