And yet MYZ does not only have 12 skills. It also has a Specialist Skill per role that bumps that number up to 13 per character, but much higher if you take all of them into consideration.I think Fria Ligan should try to keep the simplicity of the MYZ system, i.e. only three skills per ability. No need for 16 skills, I think 12 will be enough!
I would also consider re-arranging the abilities slightly:I would then use theses skills:
- Physics / Body (kind of Strength + Agility in one)
- Senses
- Psyche / Mind
- Charisma
Physics/Body: Feat of Strength + Endurance (in one skill)
Physics/Body: Melee Combat
Physics/Body: Acrobatics / Movement / Riding / etc
Senses: Stealth / Scouting / Survival (in one skill)
Senses: Manual Dexterity
Senses: Ranged Combat
Psyche / Mind: Knowledge
Psyche / Mind: Magic
Psyche / Mind: First Aid
Charisma: Judge of Character
Charisma: Persuation / Bluffing (in one skill)
Charisma: Poetry / Artistry
I have taken away Crafting as a skill, since it is to boring for an adventurer to be a craftsman! =)
Also, I have added the skill Magic, how else can the player characters be able to learn how to cast a fireball spell? =)
This more simple skill tree also naturally allows for four basic classes:
Fighter
Thief/Hunter
Wizard
Bard
A few critiques, if I may. Why ditch crafting as boring to advernturing, but keep poetry? Also, I like what you've done with the "Move" and "Stealth" combined skills, but what on earth would you call them?!? This is the biggest hurdle to a good list of skills. They need to be broad enough in name that people can understand what they encompass. Hence, "Move" could denote Acrobatics, Balance, Athletics, etc, but might be a stretch for it to also encompass riding a horse (although in MYZ maneuvering a vehicle is a Move roll, so why not). I could think of a few terms for the Stealth, Survival, Scouting skill ("Hunt", "Prowl", etc), but each would exclude certain elements. And I really do feel Scouting needs its own skill, or should at least be separate from Survival.
Can I ask why you think 12 skills are so necessary, instead of 16?
